According to this site, Genealogyplace.com/Schlotterback, Johann Schlotterback was born in Pennsylvania in 1734 and died in 1782 at the young age of 48. In the picture below is Johann and Katherina Schlotterback and family provided by a S. Evilsizer.
A simple click on Johann Schlotterback here, Johann Schlotterback, has got me more confused than when I first started. Is she directly related to Hans Gorg Schlotterback??? And who's who in the photo above?
If her Hans was her Father then how was she born in the new land in 1734? And when was this pic taken?
We'll get this all solved folks, if we comment on these posts I can update this blog as the mystery begins to solve itself.

ReplyDeleteHans and Johann are the same name. They are both German variations of the name John. So, Hans Gorg is really John George. I have seen the post you are talking about. I am not sure what to think about it. It lists George, born is 1755, as a son of Hans. George is our direct ancestor. It's just hard to tell if all of the online records are really factual.
As for the photo, the Hans, or Johann, we are talking about could not be there. Photography was invented in 1840, and didn't become widely used for another ten years, so there can't be a photograph of Hans. The photo here was taken in the late 1880's or 1890's. I know I have seen this one before. Maybe Sandy has more info on it.
